Terms and Policies
Class Size: Class size will be restricted to 4 students at a time, allowing a much greater level of give & take with the instructor than the typical class size of 8 or more.
Schedule: Classes will be given on Saturdays and Sundays, starting early and running into the evenings after supper. Plan to arrive on Friday night, and leave as late as possible Sunday, or early Monday morning, to allow you the best use of the time in the studio with Milon.
Food, Housing: Included in the fee is housing for the several nights of the 2-day class (depending on when you arrive), as well as food prepared by Milon’s wife Kiyoko.
Additional Instruction: Students will have the opportunity to speak personally with Milon regarding career counseling, marketing their artwork, and new product development. For those interested, a session on photographing your glass artwork can be arranged.
Tools: You will probably prefer to bring your own tools. Glass required for the class is provided. Bring your own torch if you want to. We’ll have basic tools available for those without, as well as torches appropriate to the job at hand.
Experience Required: You need to have at least a solid year of flameworking under your belt to gain the maximum benefit from these classes. This is fairly advanced instruction.
Images of Work: Your application must include images of your current work. These can be slides, prints, CD’s or digital files through email at email@example.com. These images will indicate your current level of development as a flameworker, as well as tell us something about your level of professionalism and marketing. These images will be used to make final decisions about which students are accepted for which classes.
Transportation: If you come by bus, train, or plane, we can pick you up at the station or airport. If you drive, we have plenty of parking.
Class Confirmation & Payment: Your space in class will be confirmed by payment. The first people that give us payment will have first shot at the spaces in the class, as long as the images of the work indicate an acceptable skill level. You will be notified of your class confirmation as soon as each class is filled. Please disregard the shipping charge from the website. Your credit card will not be charged with a shipping amount!
Cancellation Policy: You may cancel up to one week before the class and receive a full refund, but if you wait until less than a week before the class, you’ll only get a refund if we are able to fill your space. Sorry, but this is a requirement of our small class size.
Cat Allergy?: We have 2 cats in the house and 1 in the studio, so if you’re allergic, then you might not want to come.
Drug Abuse Policy: Smoking (anything), drinking alcohol, or drug use of any kind will not be allowed. Doing any of these things will be grounds for immediate dismissal without a refund.
